Biography



Stephanie Schober studied Medicine at Humboldt University in Berlin and Dance Theatre at TrinityLaban in London. 

A recipient of the Bonnie Bird New Choreography award she founded her own dance company in 2002. She was a resident choreographer at the Southbank Centre. Since then she has been working as a choreographer and dance teacher in a wide range of contexts. She has created several interdisciplinary performance pieces for her dance company, which have toured to national dance platforms including the Royal Opera House, Chisenhale Dance Space, The Place, Purcell Room, Laban Theatre, nottdance, Deda, Dance Umbrella and the British Dance Edition. Her works have been presented abroad in Belgium, Germany, Austria, Portugal, Spain and Sweden. 

Stephanie has worked as a dance artist in a wide range of contexts. She has led various cross-art  projects for children and families at DanceEast in Ipswich and at the William Morris Gallery and The Showroom in London. She has also been playing a proactive role in facilitating vocational training and professional development. She has been a guest lecturer and visiting artist at the University of Northampton, London Metropolitan University, Northern School of Contemporary Dance and London Contemporary Dance School. She currently is a lecturer at TrinityLaban and the course leader on the BA (Hons) Dance at the University of Suffolk. In association with DanceEast she has initiated LOCUS, a regular studio session for professional dance and performance artists to share practices, complemented by a series of professional workshops led by international artists.
